Our Impact

Prospera Reentry is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated solely to prisoner workforce empowerment and transitional housing. Mike Swiger and the entire Prospera Reentry team have worked hard to make this program purposeful and life changing, specializing in:

  • Pre-Release prisoner workforce readiness training

  • Pre-Release Work Release Programing

  • Post-Release trade-school training

20,000

prisoners are released in Ohio each year.

75%

of men and women are still unemployed after 1 year

67%

are re-arrested within three years!

Our Programs

The Prospera Reentry program will give these returning citizens a legitimate opportunity to locate gainful employment by providing:

• Gain real-world work experience prior to release
• Gain transferable skills and certifications to increase their human capital
• Receive job evaluations and job referrals from employers that can be used to secure post-release employment
• Gain access to re-entry resources to reduce financial barriers to reintegration

Pre-Release Workforce Empowerment Program

In 2018, Prospera Reentry launched a pre-release workforce empowerment program designed to address the staggering 70% unemployment rate returning citizens face upon release from prison.

POST-RELEASE EDUCATION PROGRAM

Prospera Reentry has partnered with Ashland University to provide employment skills-based certificates and accredited associate’s and bachelor’s degree programming to individuals recently released from prison.  Through this unique collaboration, Ashland University has agreed to waive all tuition costs and fees above the Pell Grant, so that Prospera Reentry students receive this training absolutely free.
